AQA English Language Paper 1 Section A Q2 lesson for the new 2026 exam papers which have some changes from the old pre-2025 papers.
We explore the key skills needed to master Q2 in the exam, analysing an extract from a specimen paper.
We explore Q2 and look at how to analyse language, including looking at different student answers and how they have and have not met the requirements of the mark scheme.
This then allows students to make improvements to their Q2 (language analysis) answers from the previous lesson and reflect on their learning.
This lesson will lead into further lessons about structural/structure analysis as part of a new unit of work/scheme of work that is being developed.

Students are given 15-20 cards each and must write down their own scores for each theme on each card. They then play in groups to trade cards, based on the highest scores for each theme.
The cards help students to recap and explain key characters, key themes, key quotations and the structure of the play.
Perfect for English Literature exam prep/revision, as well as homework, intervention, plenaries and more!
